Dr. Deborah Smith, an Award Winning Denver Fertility Doctor & Colorado Reproductive Endocrinologist
For over 25 years Dr. Smith and her dedicated team have been helping couples realize their dream of having a child at RMFC, the premier fertility clinic Denver and Rapid City trust. Dr. Deborah Smith is one of the most experienced infertility doctors in Colorado and South Dakota, who offers patients a combination of excellent clinical expertise, strong research experience and warm personal care.
She is Board-Certified by the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology as a Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility Specialist. Dr. Smith takes pride in offering comprehensive fertility care employing all types of fertility treatments including the advanced reproductive technologies (IVF, ICSI, PGD).
Dr. Smith is native of New York City and attended the New York Medical College. After completion of medical school she was accepted to the Saint Francis Hospital and Medical Center Ob/Gyn residency training program. During residency she received a prestigious national award for her laparoscopic skills.
After completing a 4 year Ob/Gyn residency she joined the University of Connecticut, Department of Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility and completed a 3 year fellowship in Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility. After her fellowship training, Dr. Smith has held academic appointments at Creighton University, The University of Nebraska, The University of Texas and The University of Colorado. Her academic and scientific background, plus her empathetic approach is a winning combination, much appreciated by her patients.

Melanie Bullock , RN BSN
Reproductive Medicine Nurse coordinator
Melanie is the Nurse Coordinator for Rocky Mountain Fertility Center. RMFC’s Nursing and Clinical Coordination Team plays an integral role in assisting you through your entire treatment. As a RMFC patient, you cannot help but notice Mel’s genuine concern and personal commitment to providing you with excellent care.
Melanie received her Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing from the University of Southern Colorado. She also has a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology from the same school. She has been in the field of Reproductive Medicine as an infertility nurse for over 10 years. Melanie will help coordinate care for general infertility, IVF, and the donor – recipient patients. Along with her years of experience, Melanie brings the emotional support and understanding necessary to provide state of the art fertility care.
Angela Koranteng , RN BSN
IVF Nurse Coordinator
Angela Koranteng, RN plays an integral role in assisting you throughout your entire IVF cycle. Patients frequently comment on the compassionate and supportive care Angela has provided during their experience with us. Angela will be in constant communication with you throughout your treatment and assist you with your daily lab results, scheduling your visits, as well as giving you individual, one-on-one instruction for your medications.
Angela received her Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing from The Denver School of Nursing. She also has a Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology from Northeastern University in Boston. A native of Massachusetts, she has 7 years of experience in health care. Fertility is the perfect balance for her as she is equipped to support you both physically and emotionally through your fertility journey.
Oscar Perez, PhD, HCLD
Director, Embryology and Andrology Laboratory
Oscar Perez, Ph.D., HCLD, is the Laboratory Director at Rocky Mountain Fertility Center. Dr. Perez is a very experienced embryologist with over 20 years of experience in both animal and human IVF.
Dr. Perez is an expert in all the laboratory components of embryology and andrology related to assisted reproduction, including, but not limited to IVF, ICSI, PGD, and cryopreservation. Dr. Perez has personally performed the laboratory components on over 2000 oocyte/egg retrievals and has done ICSI on over 15,000 oocytes.
Dr. Perez obtained his Ph.D. from Louisiana State University (LSU) in the department of Reproductive Physiology and performed extensive research on in-vitro fertilization at the world renowned Louisiana State University Embryo Biotechnology Laboratory. Prior to joining Rocky Mountain Fertility Center in 2008, Dr. Perez was a senior embryologist at the THR-Presbyterian Hospital ARTS Program.
Dr. Perez belongs to the select group of U.S. embryologists who have been certified as a High Complexity Laboratory Director (HCLD) and also as an Embryology Laboratory Director (ELD), by the American Board of Bioanalysis (ABB). Dr. Perez has also obtained a dual certificate in Human Embryology and Andrology by ABB.
Dr. Perez is a member of the Society for the Study of Reproduction, the American Society of Reproductive Medicine, the Society for Male Reproduction and Urology and The International Embryo Transfer Society. Dr. Perez is actively involved in oocyte vitrification research, the rapid freezing of oocytes/eggs, and other areas of assisted reproduction. Dr. Perez commonly serves as a mentor to embryologists in training.
Lisa Dorman, PhD
Assistant Director of the Embryology and Andrology Laboratory
Lisa Dorman Ph.D. is the Assistant Laboratory Director at Rocky Mountain Fertility Center. Dr. Dorman joined Rocky Mountain Fertility Center in February 2013. She is a native of Arkansas and obtained an AS in Medical Laboratory Technology from Mississippi Delta Community College, a BS in Clinical Laboratory Science form University of Louisiana at Monroe, and a MS and Ph.D. in Clinical Health Science from University of Mississippi Medical Center.
Dr. Dorman’s career spans over 18 years. During that time she has held positions as a Microbiologist, Embryologist, and Andrologist. She is a “hands-on” Embryologist fully trained in all aspects of Assisted Reproductive Technology including Intracytoplasmic Sperm Injection (ICSI), Assisted Zona Hatching (AZH), embryo culture, and vitrification.
Taunya graduated from Cambridge College in 1995 with her Medical Assistant Certificate and in 2007 she achieved her certification from American Medical Technologists to be a Certified Office Laboratory Technician. With 18 years of experience, she has worked with patients in family practice, infertility, women’s health and pediatrics. Taunya enjoys her job at helping couples achieve their goals for a family and has been part of our practice since 2012.
