Dr. Deborah Smith, an Award Winning Denver Fertility Doctor & Colorado Reproductive Endocrinologist
For over 25 years Dr. Smith and her dedicated team have been helping couples realize their dream of having a child. Dr. Deborah Smith is one of the most experienced board certified infertility doctors in Colorado and South Dakota with 25 years’ experience as a fertility expert. Dr. Smith and her team offer patients a combination of excellent clinical expertise, strong research experience, and warm personal care.

She is Board-Certified by the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology as a Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility Specialist. Dr. Smith takes pride in offering comprehensive fertility care employing all types of fertility treatments including the advanced reproductive technologies (IVF, ICSI, PGD).
Dr. Smith is native of New York City and attended New York Medical College. After completion of medical school, she was accepted to the Saint Francis Hospital and Medical Center Ob/Gyn residency training program. During residency, she received a prestigious national award for her laparoscopic skills.
After completing a 4 year Ob/Gyn residency she joined the University of Connecticut, Department of Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility and completed a 3-year fellowship in Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility. After her fellowship training, Dr. Smith has held academic appointments at Creighton University, The University of Nebraska, The University of Texas and The University of Colorado. Her academic and scientific background, plus her empathetic approach is a winning combination, much appreciated by her patients.

Melanie Bullock, RN BSN
Donor Oocyte and Gestational Carrier Nurse Coordinator
Melanie is the Nurse Coordinator for Rocky Mountain Fertility Center’s Egg Donor-recipient and Gestational Carrier patients. RMFC’s Nursing and Clinical Coordination Team plays an integral role in assisting you through your entire treatment. As an RMFC patient, you cannot help but notice Mel’s genuine concern and personal commitment to providing you with excellent care.
Melanie received her Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing from the University of Southern Colorado. She also has a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology from the same school. She has been in the field of Reproductive Medicine as an infertility nurse for over 10 years. Melanie will help coordinate care for general infertility, IVF, and the donor-recipient patients. Along with her years of experience, Melanie brings the emotional support and understanding necessary to provide state of the art fertility care.
Angela Koranteng, RN BSN
IVF Nurse Coordinator / Reproductive Medicine Nurse Coordinator
Angela Koranteng, RN plays an integral role in assisting you throughout your entire IVF cycle. Patients frequently comment on the compassionate and supportive care Angela has provided during their experience with us. Angela will be in constant communication with you throughout your treatment and assist you with your daily lab results, scheduling your visits, as well as giving you individual, one-on-one instruction for your medications.
Angela received her Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing from The Denver School of Nursing. She also has a Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology from Northeastern University in Boston. A native of Massachusetts, she has 7 years of experience in healthcare. Fertility is the perfect balance for her as she is equipped to support you both physically and emotionally through your fertility journey.
Ashlie Keown, Manager
Ashlie Keown is our Office and Billing Manager and she has over 25 years’ experience in the medical field. She graduated in 2010 with her Bachelors of Science in Healthcare Management. She sees each patient as an extension of her own family and enjoys building relationships with her coworkers. Has been part of the Rocky Mountain Fertility team since December 2014.
William Gallegos, MLT
William “Bill” Gallegos is the director of the Andrology Lab at Rocky Mountain Fertility Lab.
He is a certified medical technologist with over 10 years’ experience in the laboratory, and over 10 years’ experience performing semen analysis procedures. He has performed over 10, 000 semen analysis and sperm wash procedures.
Bill has trained several lab personnel at local fertility clinics in the techniques used in andrology. In his free time, Bill is an expert gardener (often giving RMFC staff advice on how to save our plants!) or you can find him working on his “Hot Rod”.
Christopher De Jonge, PhD, HCLD
Director of the IVF/Embryology and Andrology Laboratory
Christopher De Jonge, PhD, HCLD, is Adjunct Professor, Department of Urology, at the University of Minnesota, and Director, Andrology Program at the University of Minnesota Medical Center. He is board-certified as a high-complexity clinical laboratory director and the first person to be certified as “Embryologist” by the American College of Embryology.
In 1989, Christopher received his doctorate in Physiology along with the Rush University Graduate College Award from Rush University in Chicago. In 1995, he received the American Society of Andrology ‘Young Andrologist’ award in recognition of an individual who has made significant contributions to the field of Andrology. He was co-investigator /author of a research publication cited by TIME magazine as “2010 Top Ten Medical Breakthroughs”(NatureBiotechnology, October 2010).
Professor De Jonge twice served on the Editorial Committee for the WHO Laboratory Manual for the Examination of Human Semen and Sperm-Cervical Mucus Interaction. He served as Editorial Board member for Human Reproduction, Biology of Reproduction, and was Associate/Section Editor for the Journal of Andrology. Currently, he is on the Editorial Board of Fertility & Sterility and is Section Editor for Reproductive BioMedicine Online. He has served on the Scientific Program Committee for numerous national and international congresses, including the 2005 World IVF Congress in Istanbul. He has co-organized international symposia including Genetics of Human Fertility in Collioure, France and the Utah International Symposium on the Genetics of Male Infertility in Salt Lake City, Utah, USA.
Professor De Jonge has written over 20 book chapters and more than 50 peer-reviewed scientific publications and edited numerous books, including Assisted Reproductive Technologies: Accomplishments and New Horizons, and The Sperm Cell: Production, Maturation, Fertilization, Regeneration (Eds 1 and 2). Christopher serves as an ad-hoc reviewer for numerous prominent journals and for major granting agencies such as the NIH.
Sarah Everist, Andrology and Embryology Laboratory Technician
Sarah Everist is an Andrology and Embryology Laboratory Technician. She specializes in preparing seme for analysis, IUI and IVF procedures. She also works closely with our embryology lab staff to ensure all stages of In Vitro processes are conducted with the highest level of quality and efficiency. Sarah received her Bachelors of Science degree in Biology from The Universtiy of Colorado and came to Rocky Mountain Fertility lab with 6 years laboratory experiences.
Early in Sarah’s laboratory career, she worked as a pre-analytical specimen accessing lead demonstrating her attention to detail and ability to collaborate with both peers and management. She quickly advanced to an infectious disease screening technologist where she earned extensive experience with moderate and high-complexity testing including; enzyme-linked immunosorbent assays, immunofluorescent assays, nucleic acid testing, and HLD typing. It was in that position, by screening potential egg and sperm donors, that she gained exposure and interest in IVF and Andrology. Sarah has worked with a leading art manufacturing company where, she learned the techniques of embryo culture, developmental analysis and how to maintain the highly sensitive culture environment.
