ARE YOU LOOKING TO DONATE YOUR EGGS?

When couples can’t conceive, they have to look at the specific issue they have and go from there. Some couples can’t conceive due to poor egg quality. Sometimes, due to heredity or disease, a woman may not have eggs at all. In the past, this meant that she was destined to adopt or be the best aunt ever. But, now there are options for her including receiving donated eggs. If you are under the age of 30 and if you’re interested in donating your eggs, you may have heard a little bit about egg donation from an ad or a friend, but what really happens when you decide to donate your eggs? Keep reading to learn more.

WHAT IS THE PROCESS OF DONATING MY EGGS?

The process of donating eggs is a lot more intensive than the process of donating sperm. We will need to make sure you have a normal health history, no family history of significant genetic disorders, and a normal physical examination. You must also be completely free of STDs and other communicable diseases.

You can donate anonymously or to a couple you know. The process is similar for both situations.

Unfortunately, the oocyte donor will experience considerable inconvenience, some discomfort, and take some risk during the entire process. The egg donation process involves about 8 visits to the fertility office. Research the subject well and make sure you feel confident in your decision. Oocyte donation involves all the same steps required for in vitro fertilization: daily hormone injections, ultrasounds, blood work, and a transvaginal ultrasound-guided egg retrieval. Egg donors are reimbursed well for their efforts usually starting at $5,500.
