Alternatives to Oocyte Vitrification

Another technique of assistive reproductive technology is embryo freezing. This is when a fertilized egg is taken and frozen in the same process as the oocyte freezing method. In the case of the patient being single, or too young to have a partner, the doctor may use donor sperm to fertilize the egg before it is vitrified.

There are alternatives to the oocyte vitrification treatment, as it is still highly experimental. While there have been some successes, there are still a lot of factors to consider before going ahead with it. Using donor eggs may be a good alternative to oocyte vitrification. This is when a different woman donates their egg, fertilized or not, to the infertile woman so that she may become pregnant.
